At Master Hee's Seaweed, we used to hand roast our seaweed. Through this practice, we discovered and mastered the distinct aroma of tasteful smoke. We believe that this quality of flavor is key to the identity of Korean seaweed and so for years we kept perfecting, and re-perfecting our recipes.
Following years of research and testing, we have developed technology that deactivates the ingredient in perilla oil that causes oxidation (not disclosed). This is what sets apart Master Hee's seaweed from other seaweed products.
We only use sesame/perilla oil freshly pressed at our own mill and NON-GMO canola oil.
We select only the highest grade raw laver produced in Korea and sort it in HACCP-certified hygienic facilities.
- Sun-dried sea salts rich in minerals (only 0.1% of the world's salt production)
- Alkaline salt (pH9) roasted at 800 ℃ using a patented method, and good for health
- Premium sea salt with low salinity and a sweet flavor
- Clean, pure sea salt, air-dried to remove bitterness

At Master Hee’s, we produce both premium handmade laver, and automated laver that contains the craftsmanship spirit. Just like the laver was cooked by our Korean mom in the old days, we make laver in the same tradition. But they are clearly differentiated from other laver products in taste and nutrition facts because we use plenty of perilla oil which contains a large amount of omega-3 fatty acids.
In addition, in our seaweed flakes, we use the finest 100% all natural ingredients like shrimp, onions, shiitake mushrooms and anchovies, and we source our salt from the most prestigious salt farms in Korea that still adhere to traditional Korean salt farming techniques.
